The Washington State Quarter Horse Association is a non-profit organization in the State of Washington. It is the recognized state affiliate of the American Quarter Horse Association, an international program. We promote, show and recognize our Washington State Quarter Horses and Award Winners under the rules of the AQHA.
AQHA keeps WSQHA appraised of legal and tax changes effecting the horse industry and offers the WSQHA state and federal legislative support and information for any tax and horse related issues.
In 1995, there were 50,491 registered American Quarter horses in Washington State. Washington stands ninth in the nation with 6,722 AQHA members including 657 amateur members and 688 youth members.
You can chose to be a part of any number of programs. The horseback riding program, Quarter horse shows, racing, special events, educational seminar, the Star program, youth and amateur programs and/or by sponsorship and support of the WHQHA. The Northwest Quarter Horse Congress and Stallion Futurities show brought an estimated economic impact of $450,000 to the City of Spanaway in 1995.
Membership may be a family or single person, or an entity such as a ranch, corporation, company, syndicate, firm, or an institution of learning. Each group membership is entitled to one vote. Family memberships are $40 per year. This includes husband and wife and children age 8 and under. The single membership fee per person or entity is $25 per year. Your membership entitles you to a newsletter (published 6 times a year) and a state directory.
